Automobiles in German Town Found Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers stated they were notified by a resident who found a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Officers state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.

The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.

Law enforcement then discovered many other vandalized cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.

Officials report initial examinations show the fluid was probably blood from a person.

"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities said they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for tips.

A senior political figure said the attack made him speechless and required to be solved promptly.

"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he posted on social media, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
